YEREVAN. – Armenian National Assembly (NA) Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan on Wednesday met with Greek Ambassador Ioannis Taghis.     

First, the NA leader congratulated the ambassador for being appointed to this office and expressed a conviction that, owing to the diplomat’s activities, the Armenian-Greek relations will strengthen further, NA press service informs. In Abrahamyan’s words, the ties between Armenia and Greece are an important pledge for deepening bilateral cooperation. The parliament head noted that Armenia underscores the development of relations with Greece, and stated that the political ties with this country are on a high level. Also, Hovik Abrahamyan reconfirmed his invitation, which was extended to leader of the Greek parliament, to pay an official visit to Armenia.    

In his turn, Ambassador Taghis noted that Armenia and Greece are friendly countries and the friendship between both peoples comes from ancient times. The diplomat stressed that he will do everything in his capacity to further develop Armenian-Greek ties, and underscored the need to enhance interparliamentary cooperation as well.

During the meeting, the interlocutors also discussed other matters of bilateral interest.
