Venezuela will temporarily close its borders with Columbia and Brazil during Sunday’s regional elections in the country, stated Wilmer Barrientos, Commander of Operational Strategic Command of Venezuela.
According to him, experience has shown that such measure contributes to the strengthening of security in the country and the improvement of the situation at the borders.
In addition, sale of alcoholic beverages and firework supplies is prohibited between Friday evening and the morning of December 17. Also, the ban on truck traffic—except for trucks that transport food, washing materials, building materials, and fuel—will enter into force in Venezuela on Saturday.
