February 1, 2010 a suicide bomber killed at least 40 people and wounded 100 others in Iraq, Baghdad.
The blast occurred at 11:45 local time when a female suicide bomber detonated explosive belt among Shiite pilgrims. The pilgrims were making their way to Karbala city, situated 80km of Baghdad to attend religious ceremony, Associated Press reports.
This week thousands of Shiites go to Karbala to participate in religious ceremonies dedicated to 40th day of Ashura- day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn, the grandson of Islamic prophet Muhammad.
