YEREVAN. - Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates Christmas Eve or the Eve of the Nativity and Theophany of our Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday evening and the celebration continues on Sunday as well. All Armenian churches serve holy liturgy and light candles. People take the candles and the lights from churches to their homes, which symbolize divine light and blessing of the church.
For a comparison, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Christmas Eve a day after the Gregorian church, while the Catholics celebrate it earlier on Dec. 25.
