Armenia’s Car Insurers Bureau informed that as of December 1, 2012, mandatory vehicle insurance companies served 366.7 thousand cars. Although in comparison with previous months, the number of insured vehicles has increased slightly, it is unlikely that in 2012 the 2011’s number will be restored (392.5 thousand cars).
Insurance bonuses of 7 companies in Armenia working in Mandatory Vehicle Insurance, on December 1 totaled in AMD 13.6 billion, while payments were AMD 8.2 billion. Thus, the ratio of payments to bonuses was 62%. This record was high after the introduction of Mandatory Vehicle Insurance in January 2011. In 2011, the figure was 37.5%. Thus, insurers started to spend more for accidents of their customers.
In 2012, the number of accidents significantly increased. Due to Mandatory Vehicle Insurance, the number of compensated accidents was 39.6 thousand, while in 2011 it was 25.3 thousand.
