YEREVAN. – The first day of the campaigns for Armenia’s presidential election on February 18 and ruling Republican Party leader—and presidential candidate and incumbent President—Serzh Sargsyan’s recent interview made it apparent as to the scenario whereby the voting will unroll. Presidential contender, and National Accord party Chairman, Aram Harutyunyan said this during a press conference on Tuesday.     

He noted that there will not be any competition of programs and a true election will not take place, and those that still remain in the list of presidential candidates are legitimizing the upcoming election.  

Also, Harutyunyan presented his minimum and maximum programs. His minimum program is to leave Serzh Sargsyan all alone in the ballot. He informed that he will withdraw his presidential nomination on February 8, but a day earlier, that is, on February 7, he will start a hunger strike in front of the Central Electoral Commission. 

Aram Harutyunyan’s maximum program is for Serzh Sargsyan to likewise withdraw from the presidential race and, “to become the guarantee of the election and to have a secure old age.”
