YEREVAN. – The voters’ lists and control over the voting process are realized by different institutions, and it is inadmissible to condition one by another and judge on them, Central Election Committee (CEC) Chairman Tigran Mukuchyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am commenting on the British Ambassador to Armenia Katherina Lynch’s statement on the voters’ lists.

Mukuchyan said that the voters’ lists are based on the state registry data, and if a citizen is registered, he is included in the voters’ list, disregarding whether s/he is in Armenia at the moment or not.

“The problem refers to potential voters absent from Armenia, which is quite another institution. All the citizens having registration are included in the voters’ lists, and if there are citizens who will be absent on the Election Day and their number is huge, it means nothing,” he added.

As for the Ambassador’s offer to run an annual re-registration, Mukuchyan said that he has no idea, how it is possible.
