YEREVAN. - Three candidates for President of Armenia - Chairman of the “National Accord” Aram Harutyunyan, former Foreign Minister of Nagorno Karabakh Arman Melikyan, and Vartan Setrakyan - are ready to assist the call for airtime of Save Teghut environmental civic initiative.

Candidate for president, who introduces himself as an expert of epos Vartan Setrakyan, told Armenian News-NEWS.am he was willing to give all or part of the free air time, which is provided to him on public television as part of the presidential campaign, to Save Teghut Civic Initiative. He noted that he has not paid air time, and if the law allows it, he is ready to provide his air time of the environmentalists.

“I am ready to give my airtime. Teghut activists should contact me, and we will come to an agreement. Maybe I will give them some of my air time,” Vartan Setrakyan offered.

Another presidential candidate, former Foreign Minister of Nagorno Karabakh Republic Arman Melikyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that during the last elections, they did just that: the airtime was given to public figures. The appeal has a rational point, basically it can be possible, but they should be approached directly.

“I have no problem with the restrictions, but the subject should be clear,” he said, stressing that they can meet, discuss and clarify some details after they will be given a similar opportunity once or twice.

Leader of the “National Accord” Aram Harutyunyan is also ready to help the defenders of Teghut. In an interview with Armenian News-NEWS.am, he said that if the activists have something to say, they can meet, and he will raise these questions.

“I am not greedy about my free time, but if we give time to all groups, then there will be none left, but I am willing to raise all the questions. What is the goal they are pursuing? Should they be the ones to raise the question, or the important part is for the question to be raised at all?” he said, adding that he is ready to meet with them.
