YEREVAN. – The issue of emigration from Armenia has become more urgent yet again in recent years.

The difference between those who departed from Armenia and those who arrived in the country in 2012 is 30,000. And the “leaders” in this indicator are the citizens of Armenia; they are followed by the citizens of Russia, Georgia, and Iran.

Everything is clear in the case of foreign nationals, except for those from Syria, as numerous Armenians from that country came to Armenia in the year past. Around 8,400 people arrived in Armenia from Syria, and 4,000 have left in an unknown direction.

Separately, the volume of stable bread production in Armenia reduced by 1,500 tons—or by 0.5 percent—in 2012, as compared to the previous year. Together with all the other reasons, this fact bespeaks a drop in the country’s bread consumers and this is equivalent to 16,400 less bread consumers.

To note, however, that the net immigration of foreign nationals into Armenia is in positive territory by about     7,800. And based on these data, we can deduce that the actual number of people who emigrated from Armenia in 2012 is around 10,000.
