YEREVAN.- Representatives of the International Expert Center for Electoral Systems (ICES) held a number of meetings with candidates and Armenian officials.

The delegation led by Alexander Tsinker was received by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Friday.

The sides discussed upcoming presidential elections as well as issues related to international relations, influence of current developments on the election campaign.

The observers compared parliamentary elections with the presidential vote, as well as analyzed and compared Armenia’s electoral system with that of other states. They pointed out progress in development of electoral system, in particular provisions on Electoral Code adopted in 2011.

The observers mentioned that Armenian authorities worked profoundly on the Electoral Code, taking into account OSCE recommendations and conclusions of the Venice Commission.

They also touched upon the Karabakh peace process and issues related to country’s relations with neighboring states.
