YEREVAN. – First President, and opposition bloc Armenian National Congress leader, Levon Ter-Petrosyan voted in Monday’s presidential election.

Ter-Petrosyan cast in ballot at capital city Yerevan’s Election Precinct No. 9/11, where ruling Republican Party candidate and incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan voted earlier.

The First President said he voted for the Republic of Armenia, and noted that he always has high hopes from elections.    

To the query as which of the seven presidential contenders he would vote for, Levon Ter-Petrosyan responded: “I gladly would vote for all seven candidates, but the law does not allow this.”    

To note, the sixth presidential election in Armenia got underway Monday at 8am, and it will continue until 8pm. The votes are cast in 1,988 precincts that are registered throughout the country.

The seven presidential candidates that are running in Monday’s election are: Ruling Republican Party leader and incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, opposition Heritage Party Chairman and former FM Raffi Hovannisian, opposition Freedom Party Chairman and former PM Hrant Bagratyan, opposition National Self-Determination Union Chairman Paruyr Hayrikyan, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic former FM Arman Melikyan, “Radio Hay” Company Manager and political scientist Andreas Ghukasyan, and non-party affiliate and epic poetry specialist Vardan Sedrakyan.
