YEREVAN.- Overall the elections of Armenian president have been free and fair. At the same time certain reports on violations registered during the vote will be investigated, MP from Armenian ruling Republican Party Davit Harutyunyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

Harutyunyan, who is heading parliament’s standing committee on legal affairs, said he had not been informed about serious incidents.

Compared with the previous elections, Harutyunyan said the atmosphere was calm. He pointed out active participation of the social networks, adding the elections registered “an obvious progress.”

“I think we have to work to increase public confidence,” he added.

Note that today the Presidential elections were held in Armenia. Seven candidates were running for the presidency: the incumbent President and leader of ruling Republican Party Serzh Sargsyan, the leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian, former Armenian Prime Minister Hrant Bagratyan, head of the Association National Self-Determination Paruyr Hayrikyan, political scientist Andreas Ghukasyan, former Karabakh Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan and epos specialist Vardan Sedrakyan.
