YEREVAN. – The voter turnout in Monday’s presidential election in Armenia reduced by 123,000, as compared to the previous presidential vote in 2008, and 85,000 of this reduction was recorded in capital city Yerevan, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“The voter turnout in the regions, however, reduced very slightly. Furthermore, the [voter] turnout even grew in Ararat and Aragatsotn Regions.  

The official [voter] turnout in the 2013 presidential election made up 60 percent. The turnout for the previous presidential voting was 69.2 percent. Such difference in the percentages is due primarily to the number of voters.

In the 2008 election, the number of voters was 2,328,320, whereas in 2013 this indicator reached 2,528,463. That is, the [voter] turnout in this election sharply reduced on the account of the number of voters increasing by close to 200,000,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
