YEREVAN. – The ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) favors discussing the post-election situation in the country, and the mechanisms for discussing this matter will be selected very soon, RPA Vice Chairman, RPA National Assembly (NA) Faction leader Galust Sahakyan told news reporters on Monday, reflecting on the opposition MPs’ initiative to convene a special NA session devoted to the discussion of the aforesaid situation.
But Sahakyan added that the NA is not empowered to deliberate on the results of the February 18 presidential election.
“We plan to examine the post-election processes; it is impossible not to discuss this subject matter, and this should be arranged very quickly. We need to find a way out of this situation. For several days, we will think about the discussion format, but it is important that all parties express willingness to hold discussions,” the RPA Faction leader stressed.
Galust Sahakyan also noted that having a strong and a consolidated political opposition is very important for Armenia.
