YEREVAN.- No one must exert pressure on free will of the voters, former presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian said in Kajaran, a city in southern Syunik Region.  

Police officers assured Hovannisian they used no intimidation in the city.

“I do respect the Police, they are protecting the law. All are equal before the law,” Hovannisian said.

Leader of Heritage party met with Mayor of Kajaran and coordinator of the Republican Party of Armenia’s (RPA) local office Vardan Gevorgyan. Meeting Raffi Hovannisian, the latter said he congratulates Serzh Sargsyan on his victory and Hovannisian on being the runner-up in elections.

Speaking with Mayor, Raffi Hovannisian noted that results published by the Central Electoral Commission were not trustworthy. In his turn, official recalled that results were confirmed officially.  

“I do respect you, therefore I did not register administrative fine during the election campaign. You were holding campaign events in the city but did not provide notification on demonstrations,” Mayor told Hovannisian.

Answering to a remark, the opposition leader said he will pay a fine amounting to AMD 5,000 for unauthorized demonstration if he really broke the law.
