YEREVAN. – From the legal viewpoint, the matter of the tragedy, which occurred in Armenian capital city Yerevan on March 1, 2008, is not closed. Ruling Republican Party (RPA) National Assembly (NA) Faction leader, RPA Vice Chairman Galust Sahakyan, stated this during Friday’s briefing at the NA, and added that it is sad that this tragedy is becoming a tool for the political forces.
“From the political standpoint, I consider the matter closed because political processes are not continuous. It is just that attempts are made to politicize [it], and it is normal that some people are exploiting and politicizing the matter; but turning it into a tool is insulting for the entire nation,” Sahakyan said.
To the query as to whether the authorities are not solving the March 1 case from the legal viewpoint so as to repeat such events, Galust Sahakyan responded as follows:
“Neither the authorities nor any Armenian can think that and wish a repeat of such events.”
