YEREVAN.- World community will not allow Azerbaijan to shoot down civilian aircrafts heading to Nagorno-Karabakh, Bulgarian journalist said.

Tsvetana Paskaleva is happy to hear reports on possible prompt opening of the airport. Paskaleva remembers the airport which she saw during her first trip to Karabakh back in 1991.

The journalist is hopeful the airport will open in the near future, adding more political will and activeness is needed. As to Azerbaijan’s threats to shoot down planes flying to Stepanakert, Paskaleva noted international community will not allow this.

Opening of the Stepanakert airport remains a number one issue in Azerbaijan. The official Baku periodically voices threats to shoot down the aircrafts. However, Azerbaijani Deputy Minister Araz Azimov recently said “official Baku will not permit Armenia to conduct civil aviation flights over the air space of occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, but it will do this without the use of military means.”
