Armenian Minister of Diaspora Hranush Hakobyan discussed issues related to providing aid to Syrian Armenians with the Charge d’Affaires of Lebanon Ara Khachatryan.

While welcoming the guest, Minister Hakobyan stressed she is proud to see an Armenian on the position of Lebanese envoy, the press service of the Ministry of Diaspora informed Armenian News - NEWS.am.

“I am proud that a young Armenian can inspire such confidence in the government of Lebanon and to hold such a position,” Hakobyan said.

Ara Khachaturian, Charge d’Affaires of Lebanon, will travel to South Africa, which became home to the community of about 35,000 Lebanese, who have their church and school. About 300 of them are Armenians.

Armenian Diaspora Minister asked the Lebanese envoy among other things to create an active group of Armenians and support Armenians in shaping the local community.

The envoy expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and said he is impressed by Armenia and the Armenians.

“The time spent with the Armenians was most enjoyable. Local Armenians are good, sincere and hospitable. I am very impressed. Yerevan is like the Vatican. While all Catholics of the world come to Rome, all the Armenians of the world tend to visit Yerevan,” he stressed.

During the meeting the program of aiding Syrian Armenians has also been discussed.
