YEREVAN. – Armenia’s economic growth indicator is quite high for the months of January and February 2013, Premier Tigran Sargsyan stated during Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.
To note, in line with the National Statistical Service report, the country’s economic activity index was 8 percent for these two months.
“It is pleasing that industry has high growth [16 percent], which we must maintain. But the construction index is worrisome. In 2012, we stopped the drop in construction, had a half-percent growth, but registered an 8-percent drop in January and February [2013]. It is necessary to carry out a state-run program in the construction sector. Otherwise, we cannot have a high growth in this sector,” Sargsyan said.
