YEREVAN. – The foreign debt of Armenia’s banks and credit companies constituted $1.17 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012, in the case when this was $1.06 billion in the third quarter, the Central Bank of Armenia bulletin reports.        

In the fourth quarter of 2012, Armenia’s banks and credit companies received $759.7 million foreign loans and paid back former loans in the amount of $626.9 million.

In the fourth quarter of 2012, the primary lenders to the Armenian banking system were Russia, with 25.8 percent; Luxembourg, with 7.7 percent; and the Netherlands, with 7.4 percent. The international organizations, on the other hand, provided close 34.6 percent of these loans to Armenia.
