YEREVAN. – Armenian coalition government’s junior member, Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP), will be in the Government. But if it wins the capital city Yerevan Council election—which is slated for May 5—, a whole new situation will be created. RLP MP Khachik Harutyunyan, who will lead to the party’s campaign headquarters during the vote, stated this during a press conference on Friday.
In his words, Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan, who heads the RLP proportional list in the election, has done considerable work in the domain of emergency situations.
With respect to Hovhannes Shahinyan, who is second in the party’s list, Harutyunyan said Shahinyan has extensive experience in the area of local government, he was the former prefect of Yerevan’s Arabkir community, and he is quite knowledgeable.
Khachik Harutyunyan added that although Yerevan Municipality has carried out activities, the capital city needs drastic changes, and therefore Orinats Yerkir is not preparing to conduct an ostrich policy and say everything is fine in Yerevan.
