YEREVAN. – The tide of Armenia’s presidential election will spread onto the capital city Yerevan Council vote, which is slated for May 5. Coalition government’s junior member, Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP) MP Khachik Harutyunyan, who will lead the party’s campaign headquarters during the Yerevan election, said this during a press conference on Friday.  

As per Harutyunyan, the country’s political opposition is in average condition.

“The tide of the presidential elections will spread onto these elections, as well, and the opposition will have its own place,” he stated, expressing a view that this will be the “Hello, Yerevan” bloc.  

The RLP MP also informed that he met with opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square—, and urged him to choose a different method to wage a struggle, instead of a hunger strike, but added that one cannot domineer upon his struggle.
