YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s decision to send, again with a closed envelope, already-rejected proposals to opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square—is a diplomatic insult because Sargsyan sent the same proposals which Hovannisian already rejected once. National Assembly (NA) Heritage Faction leader Ruben Hakobyan said this during Friday’s parliamentary briefing.

“Nonetheless, the discourse is not over, and Raffi Hovannisian will present the proposals in his talk today [Friday]. There should be no winners and losers, since the interests of the state compel an appropriate solution for the created situation,” Hakobyan stated.

NA Heritage Faction Secretary Zaruhi Postanjyan, however, disagreed with her faction’s leader, and noted:

“Serzh Sargsyan has lost [in the election], and we will obligate him to peace.”
