YEREVAN. – The health condition of Vrezh Galstyan—who broke in the Armenian National Assembly (NA) building and who is currently at capital city Yerevan’s No. 1 University Hospital with a gunshot wound—is normal, his injury is not life-threatening, Hospital Chief Physician Karen Sahakyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.   

According to him, they have found out that the young man sustained an anatomic injury to his soft tissues. The doctors have not found anything else. In Sahakyan’s words, the bullet had entered and subsequently left the Galstyan’s body.    

At present, his wound is being treated. Galstyan will remain in hospital on Friday, and the future course will show how many days are needed for a full recovery.     

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, a man sustained a gunshot wound as he tried to carry in a knife into the NA building on Friday.

The man managed to enter the yard of the parliament, at about 2:30pm, and started voicing threats, a source told Armenian News-NEWS.am. The parliament’s security officers ordered him to throw the knife, but he disobeyed the order.

Subsequently, the security officers fired shots in the air, but the man still did not follow the order. Consequently, the police officers were forced to fire at his leg.

The NA physician provided medical assistance to the man until an ambulance arrived. The wounded man was taken to hospital, and the parliament building is patrolled by the police.

The National Security Service (NSS) has instructed not to allow anyone out because an inspection is carried out at the scene of the incident. The NSS officers are standing in front of the parliament building, and they are prohibiting the news reporters from leaving the NA.

To note, Vrezh Galstyan, 25, is from the City of Masis.
