YEREVAN.-  Member of ruling party Hamlet Harutyunyan said incumbent mayor of Yerevan Taron Margaryan is to continue the work of his father, former premier Andranik Margaryan.

The MP recalled that Margaryan’s father enjoyed authority and his son will do everything “to deserve that kind of love.”

In contrast to many other officials, the mayor of the capital city is always in the focus of the society.

“He is always there, where the problems are: garbage disposal, heating, water supply. The mayor is always at work and voters can fairly assess his actions. I think Taron Margaryan will fulfill the task,” he said.

The Yerevan Council election is slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats. The election campaign will kick off on April 7 and come to an end on May 3. May 4 is a no-campaign day.

The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only.
