YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party is not yet commenting with respect to President Sargsyan’s response to the letter of proposition that was sent to him by Heritage’s chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square.

Heritage’s press secretary Hovsep Khurshudyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that they soon will reflect on this response. But Khurshudyan said nothing with regard to when and how Heritage will reflect on this response by the President.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Raffi Hovannisian unveiled last week what he called “the authorities’ last chance” to meet the people half way and to create together a New Armenia.

And on Monday, Armenia’s President, Serzh Sargsyan, responded to Hovannisian’s aforesaid letter of proposition.

“Dear Mr. Hovannisian: Even though the written material addressed to me is far from the proper understandings on the formation of a state and state authorities and it runs counter to the working constitutional regulations, it may help start a productive discourse.

“I am happy that you also are ready to assume serious oversight functions, and our views on this matter seem to be quite close. If we begin to work purposefully together, [and] based on common understandings, I am confident that we will achieve results.

“I urge you to please end your hunger strike, recover for one or two days, and together we may begin serious work, even based on your proposed—at this time, though, very raw—statement,” the President specifically responded.
