YEREVAN. – Considering the fact that no voting is expected in the closed precincts during the forthcoming Armenian capital city Yerevan Council elections, the number of precincts in the city have reduced from 469 to 464. Central Electoral Commission Press Secretary Hermine Harutyunyan told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am, but she added that the number of Yerevan’s electoral district commissions is still thirteen, just as before.    

To note, six parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications so far to run in the Yerevan Council elections.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the Yerevan Council election is slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats. The respective lists of these political forces will be registered between March 22 and this Sunday. The election campaign will kick off on April 7 and come to an end on May 3. The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only.
