YEREVAN. – The letter-based correspondence between Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who is declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square—is trading. Opposition People’s Party Chairman Tigran Karapetyan told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“Trade is trade, irrespective of whether they want one [governmental] post, or five. If you do not accept the authorities, if you are waging a struggle against the authorities, you should not conduct dealings [with them],” Karapetyan said.

He also expressed a view that the aforesaid correspondence is not a political category.

“This is a form for reaching an agreement, but this agreement does not fit into the New Armenia which Raffi [Hovannisian] was speaking about. In fact, he [that is, Hovannisian] fits into the old Armenia. The slogan [of Raffi Hovannisian] is violated,” Tigran Karapetyan maintained.
