YEREVAN.- Election to the Yerevan Council is a key political event because they determine confidence in the results of the presidential elections, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan said.

Many Armenians vote for a personality, therefore, presidential elections’ scenario is likely to repeat. Gagik Tsarukyan, Raffi Hovannisian and Levon Ter-Petrosyan are not heading the proportional lists of their parties, and this seems to become a problem for them.

Aharon Adibekyan noted that today most citizens of Yerevan prefer the serving Mayor Taron Margaryan.  The precise results of the recent survey will be ready in a week, he added.

Adibekyan believes the main struggle will break out between Republican Party of Armenia and Prosperous Armenia. Armenian National Congress and “Barev, Yerevan” bloc led by Raffi Hovannisian will fight for the second place, while ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Orinats Yerkir – for the third, he resumed.
