MOSCOW. – Sergey Sobyanin, the Mayor of Moscow, is in favor of imposing stricter visa requirements for CIS countries—which include Armenia—, НТВ reports.

Sobyanin stated that he favors this idea, specifically with respect to Russia’s neighboring Asian countries.

“Of course, it would be better if they come [to Russia] with foreign passports, [and] visas; there would be more law and order,” he noted.

The Mayor of Moscow also stated that, according to experts, close to 400,000 immigrants currently work in the Russian capital city, whereas the respective quotas are two times less.

“According to different estimations, 150-200 thousand are illegal immigrants, and law and order must be established here,” Sergey Sobyanin maintained.
