YEREVAN. – Armenia’s National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Arthur Baghdasaryan and Emergency Situations Minister Armen Yeritsyan on Saturday visited Balahovit village, in Kotayk Region, nearby which the Armenian-Russian Center for Humanitarian Response is planned to be constructed by the year’s end.    

The primary objective of the visit was to get familiar with the location and to discuss the chances for founding the center in this area, NSC press service informs. The Baghdasaryan and Yeritsyan also toured the underground management station, which is located in the same area and is intended for emergency situations.     

“A powerful Armenian-Russian emergency infrastructure will be built in this area, [and] it will be of regional importance. The key objective for creating the humanitarian response center  is to prevent emergency situations and to develop mechanisms for eliminating their consequences. We believe that, with the establishment of this center, Armenia truly will become a country that exports rescue assistance,” Baghdasaryan stated in particular.      

In his turn, Yeritsyan noted that the aforesaid center will be one of its kind in the region and it will have modern equipment. The activities of the center are planned to get underway either in October, or in November.     

The Armenian Russian Center for Humanitarian Response will contribute to the development of regional cooperation, and it will raise the level of people’s protection and of rapid reaction to emergency incidents in the region.
