YEREVAN. – Today is the day of the Resurrection of Christ, and this phase of my struggle for self-purification comes to an end today. Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who was declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote and who declared a hunger strike on March 10 at capital city Yerevan’s Liberty Square—stated this on Sunday at the square.  

“I would like to extend my gratitude to those that came to support, to give strength to me any my family over the course of these twenty-one days. The awareness of our youth has changed, and I know that the future of our country is in reliable hands.   

“I also thank to the police, who were very friendly, and I am glad that the citizen-police relation has established.  

“Our next assembly will be on April 5, at Liberty Square where the inauguration of New Armenia will take place. [But] until then, we will visit the regions. [Now,] my family [and I] have to go to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin,” Raffi Hovannisian stated in particular, as he ended his hunger strike.
