YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party-led “Barev [Hello], Yerevan” bloc will be successful in the capital city Yerevan Council election. Even though the election violations continue in the country, this vote will be half a step forward. A1+ Television Director Mesrop Movsesyan—who is nominated candidate, from the “Barev, Yerevan” list, to run in the Yerevan election—said this during a press conference on Tuesday.

Movsesyan also pointed to the three primary challenges of Yerevan: 1) Environmental protection, and expansion of green areas; 2) Urban development; and 3) Reduction of chain stores.

Reflecting on the activities of serving Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, Mesrop Movsesyan noted that the mayor has not taken any independent decisions or steps.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, six political parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications to run in the Yerevan Council elections. The latter are slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats. The election campaign will kick off on Sunday and come to an end on May 3. The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only.
