YEREVAN.- The electoral program of the Arakelutyun (Mission) party supposes new model of administration which will enable to organize entirely new local self-government, party chairman said.
Head of the party Manuk Sukiasyan said the budget of Armenia’s capital can be doubled.
“We will be able to make it true,” he told reporters on Wednesday.
In his turn, party member Mesrop Arakelyan noted that their participation in the elections was a surprise for other political forces.
“Opposition and ruling parties are jealous,” Arakelyan explained.
Asked whether they are from the opposition or pro-government camp, Arakelyan said they have no power “so we are the opposition.”
Six political parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications to run in the Yerevan Council elections. The latter are slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats. The election campaign will kick off on Sunday and come to an end on May 3. The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only.
