YEREVAN.- Only 67 percent of respondents agreed to answer the questions of the public opinion poll, conducted in Armenia’s capital ahead of the elections to Yerevan Council.

At the Wednesday press conference, Aharon Adibekyan said the survey was conducted among 1,930 citizens of Yerevan and 33 percent of respondents refused to answer the questions.

The survey showed 82.1 percent of respondents are aware of the activities of Republican Party of Armenia, 58.4 percent – of the activities of Prosperous Armenia, 41.2 percent – “Barev, Yerevan” bloc. The work of other political forces was assessed as follows: Orinats Yerkir – 20.7 percent, ARF Dashnaktsutyun – 19.3 percent, Armenian National Congress – 12.1 percent and Arakelutyun – 7 percent.  

The survey revealed the level of public awareness of the first numbers in the proportional lists of the parties and a bloc, since they are contenders for the post of a mayor. The results are as follows: incumbent mayor Taron Margaryan – 73.6 percent, Vartan Oskanian – 29.9 percent, Armen Martirosyan – 13.2 percent, Armen Yeritsyan – 7.5 percent, Armen Rustamyan - 7.4 percent, Vahagn Khachatryan – 4.7 percent and Mesrop Arakelyan – 0.1 percent.     

The election to Yerevan Council is set for May 5.
