YEREVAN.- The survey results showed 55 percent of Yerevan residents are interested in politics and will participate in the election to Yerevan Council.  

Only 28 percent of those interested in elections are trying to learn more about political events, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan told reporters on Wednesday.

Six political parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications to run in the Yerevan Council elections. The latter are slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats. The election campaign will kick off on Sunday and come to an end on May 3. The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only.
