YEREVAN.- There are concerns that recent presidential vote may affect upcoming election to the Yerevan Council, sociologist Aharon Adibekyan told reporters.

However, he noted that residents of Yerevan tend to choose the man who will solve their social problems.

“Asked what is the deciding factor in the voting for the proportional party list, 5.5-7 percent of respondents say political activities of the leader are the most important factor, 40.5 percent find important politicians’ experience and 44.5 percent -- whether a candidate is honest and fair,” Adibekyan said.  

During the survey, voters were asked whether the first numbers of the proportional list of political parties are up to the job of mayor. The results showed 70 percent believe Taron Margaryan is up to the job. The rest results are Vartan Oskanyan - 12.3 percent, Armen Martirosyan - 5.7 percent, Armen Yeritsyan - 5.5 percent, Rustamyan - 4.8 percent, Vahagn Khachatryan - 3.3 percent.

The election to the Yerevan Council is scheduled for May 5.
