YEREVAN.- Strategy development in certain sectors of economy prepared by the Armenian government may be useful for business, head of Union of Local Manufacturers said.
Vazgen Safaryan said the strategy may serve as a guideline for private sector and facilitate partnership between the government and private sector.
“Working together, the government and business can better find new markets, without duplicating the efforts, but rather, sharing information,” he said.
As to the 2013 budget, Safaryan said the budgeted AMD 300 million (about $740 thousand) for development of economic relations will hardly be sufficient for implementation of big projects.
“Nevertheless, we are happy that this expenditure item was in the budget,” he added.
The government is developing an export strategy for industries, selected as a priority. The strategy includes 11 industries, among them production of brandy, pharmaceuticals, food processing, precision machine tools, jewelry and watch industry, light industry, mining and processing of non-metallic minerals.
