YEREVAN. – At present, the ticket prices for air passenger transportation to and from Armenia are not expected to increase in connection with the bankruptcy of Armavia Airline Company—which is Armenia’s national carrier—, Government-Affiliated General Department of Civil Aviation (GDCA) Press Secretary Nelly Cherchinyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.  

“The ticket prices will remain the same, [and] will not change,” Cherchinyan added.    

The GDCA representative noted, however, that should the ticket prices increase in the future, this could be due to other factors.

“Armavia declaring bankruptcy has nothing to do [with this]; the ticket prices remain the same for the moment,” Nelly Cherchinyan stated.   

To note, Armavia Airline Company issued a statement recently and informed that its flights will end on April 1 and a bankruptcy process will commence.   

Armavia has huge debts to its employees, the Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport, as well as to Russian companies and Russian airports.
