No “big game” between U.S. and Russia for energy resources in Central Asia is expected, said U.S. Under Secretary for political affairs William Burns at the Azerbaijani Diplomatic academy on Feb.19.

“We believe that can do more working together, instead of against each other,” Burns stated.

Though competition in energy issues always persists, “U.S. does not believe that energy security – is a zero-sum game,” the official emphasized.

According to him, closer cooperation diversifies energy supply routes, providing effective selling price and preventing hydrocarbon delivery interruptions to the world markets.
