YEREVAN. – In 2013, Armenian capital city’s Yerevan Brandy Factory (YBF) prepares to purchase a record volume of grapes, close to 35,000 tons, Factory Executive Director Ara Grigoryan stated during a press conference on Monday. As a result, the 32,000 tons, which were purchased in pre-economic-crisis 2008, will be surpassed. 

To carry out a more effective purchase of grapes, YBF plans to offer seven-year contracts to the villagers. A total of 413 such contracts will be signed this year and, subsequently, their number will reach 2,500.

Even though the grape yield in Armenia is primarily eight tons per hectare, this could reach up to 20-25 tons; but investments are needed to ensure such volume of crop.  

Incidentally, the aforesaid seven-year contracts will facilitate the providing of bank loans to the villagers.
