YEREVAN. – A group of youth that support Armenia’s opposition Heritage Party Chairman, former FM Raffi Hovannisian—who was declared runner-up to the winner, incumbent President Serzh Sargsyan, as a result of the presidential election that was conducted on February 18, but who claims to be the real winner in the vote—commenced, on Tuesday morning, their series of protests from capital city Yerevan State University.

Holding banners and calling out, they are walking along the institutions of higher education in downtown Yerevan, and calling upon the students to come to Yerevan’s Liberty Square at 11am and attend Hovannisian’s inauguration.

At these universities, however, “police walls” and closed gates are “welcoming” these youth.

To note, at noon, Raffi Hovannisian’s “inauguration of New Armenia” will be held at Liberty Square, whereas Serzh Sargsyan’s official swearing-in ceremony will take place at Yerevan’s Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex.
