YEREVAN.- Inauguration ceremony of reelected President Serzh Sargsyan commenced in Yerevan (photos).
Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan declared open the special parliamentary session. A flag, the Constitution, the 7th century Holy Bible and symbols of presidential power were brought in.
President Serzh Sargsyan took the oath of office: “Assuming the office of the President of the Republic of Armenia I swear: to fulfill the requirements of the Constitution in an unreserved manner; to respect the fundamental human and civil rights and freedoms; to ensure the protection, independence, territorial integrity and security of the Republic to the glory of the Republic of Armenia and to the welfare of the people of the Republic of Armenia.”
Following the ceremony, President Sargsyan will visit Yerablur military cemetery to lay wreaths at the graves of Commander Vazgen Sargsyan and General Andranik.
Then, he will return to the presidential residence where, after a military parade, he will accept government’s resignation.
