YEREVAN.- Returning to Liberty Square in the center of Yerevan, the leader of Heritage, ex-presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian delivered a short speech, addressing several hundreds of his supporters who continued their participation in the rally in the rain.

Hovannisian said he rejected the idea of leading his supporters to Baghramian Avenue where presidential residence is situated, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports.

“Today we will not go to Baghramyan Avenue, but to Tsitsernakaberd memorial to honor victims of the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Turkey. Armenia will rise tomorrow, but today we, with our prayers and candles, will go up to the memorial which is also a symbol of rebirth of the Armenian people,” Hovannisian said.

Opposition leader’s statement suggests there will be no protest actions in the evening.

He once again invited the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II to Liberty Square at 6pm to apologize for “election fraud and false inauguration ceremony.”

Unless they come, authorities will witness serious internal political processes duirng which the people will regain power, he said.

Raffi Hovannisian announced the next rally, set for this Friday. At the moment the square is empty.
