YEREVAN. – The regional processes are characterized by a number of factors, Georgian affairs analyst Haykazun Alvrtsyan said during a press conference on Wednesday, and added that the emerging new factors give grounds to contemplate. 

“For example, on the one hand, [there is] the Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic axis, [and] on the other hand, [there are] the Armenian-Iranian interactions,” Alvrtsyan noted.   

In addition, he stressed that Armenian-Georgian relations are a link to the outside world.

In the analyst’s words, Armenian-Georgian ties will be more interesting if the Abkhazian railway is reopened. 

“The new Georgian government launched the normalization of Georgian-Russian relations, but Russia has not yet expressed an interest in the reopening of the Abkhazian railway,” Haykazun Alvrtsyan noted.

As for the construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway, in the analyst’s view, Georgia is under a serious pressure over this matter.
