YERVAN. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia has demonstrated its muscles, political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan said, adding that this will not disappear in a couple of weeks.

“What will happen to Raffi Hovannisian? It will be the same what was before. It is a political tradition in Armenia. Recalll Vazgen Manukyan, Stepan Demirchyan, Levon Ter-Petrosyan. They all said that the elections had been rigged,” head of the Caucasus Institute told reporters on Thursday.

He stressed that he was present at the April 9 rally and saw different people, even radicals who led everything to a scuffle.

Raffi Hovannisian received the same votes that Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Arthur Baghdasaryan got in 2008, but these are not the votes of Heritage party.

“These are the votes of protest,” Iskandaryan believes.
