YEREVAN. – The convention of the opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) party is held during a significant time. I am confident that it will make important decisions and guide the organization toward surmounting the country’s challenges. Opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party National Assembly (NA) Faction leader Armen Rustamyan stated this during Saturday’s founding convention of the ANC party.
He added that the ARF and the ANC bloc factions are collaborating at the NA for virtually one year.
“We need to change our country so that growing emigration is stopped, [and] to launch a progress in our homeland [so] we may have, as soon as possible, the Armenia we all dream of. All foundations exist for such cooperation,” the ARF MP said.
Rustamyan also noted that, in the forthcoming capital city Yerevan Council election, it must be seen to it—and with a united stance—that oppositional authorities are established in Yerevan.
“If a pre-election alliance fails, we can speak about a post-election alliance. If an oppositional mayor cannot be directly elected, this can be done within the Council, [and] by having a post-election alliance,” Armen Rustamyan maintained.
