YEREVAN.- Education will be the focus of the Council of Elders, incumbent Mayor representing Republican Party of Armenia said.
Speaking to the residents of Shengavit district, Taron Margaryan said over the years the municipality had solved the problem of heating at all schools and kindergartens. He noted that 30,000 children attend kindergartens free of charge.
“We will be focused on all educational institutions,” Margaryan said.
He expressed hope that residents of the capital will first of all pay attention to the carried out work and programs reflecting interests of the population.
Six political parties and one bloc have submitted formal applications to run in the Yerevan Council elections. The latter are slated for May 5, and the participating political forces will vie for 65 Council seats. The election campaign will come to an end on May 3. The Yerevan Council election will be held with proportional lists only.
