Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received on Monday the delegation headed by OSCE Chairperson’s Special Representative for conflicts, Ambassador Andrii Deshchytsia.
The sides exchanged views on settlement of Karabakh conflict, the upcoming visit of OSCE Chairperson to Azerbaijan and other issues, Azerbaijani MFA reported.
Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that the prolongation of the conflict is the main barrier to the efforts aimed at restoring durable peace and stability in the region and that in the first place, “Armenian armed forces must withdraw from occupied territories of Azerbaijan to pave the way for the final solution to the conflict.”
He touched upon opening of the Stepanakert airport, stating that “such a move would violate the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.”
Andrii Deshchytsia has arrived in Baku within the framework of his visit to the South Caucasus. He will visit Georgia on April 15-16 and Armenia – on April 16-17.
