YEREVAN. – The authorities of Armenia should not permit the emergence of provisions, in the Armenian-Turkish protocols, which aim to set up a commission of historians. Opposition Armenian National Congress’ National Assembly Faction Secretary Aram Manukyan told this to news reporters on Wednesday while visiting capital city Yerevan’s Armenian Genocide Memorial, on the 98th anniversary of the genocide.

In Manukyan’s words, the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide has slowed ever since the signing of the aforesaid protocols, and the international community has become inconsistent with respect to this matter.    

“This was the heaviest blow to the Genocide recognition process. The second reason was that the country, whose authorities do not enjoy the people’s trust, cannot put serious matters before the international community.    

“But there are the [Armenian] people, there is the [Armenian] diaspora which will be consistent in this matter and, to resolve this, the authorities must be strong and [must] enjoy the people’s trust,” Aram Manukyan stressed.
